Tutello Through a Student’s Eyes: The Future of Learning

Tutello is a young start-up working on integrating human skills and AI in education. They are working to increase AI’s reliability and accuracy when students use it and to provide one-to-one tutoring, which has been proven to improve learning outcomes. From my perspective as a university student, Tutello is addressing the main problems surrounding tutoring—the cost and availability of tutors—while also being proactive about the potential issues of AI in education.

These points contribute to the culture of the Tutello team. The great collaboration within this small team, consisting of both experienced educationalists and newcomers to the education industry, stems from a shared goal of making a real impact. This is due to everyone on the team having an important perspective on the product they are building and a drive to make a difference. I loved being able to listen in on meetings about product development and even suggest future features for the platform. The atmosphere it created in the office was supportive and productive.

As a student, my perspective on this Human + AI tool is significant. The potential of this tool is amazing. In simple terms, it could help increase the efficiency of study sessions and improve understanding of course content. Another beneficial feature is having a helping hand available 24/7, which would significantly reduce my stress regarding assignments. Tutello is there for those late-night, last-minute panics to complete coursework assignments that plague many university students. For teachers and professors, my take is that Tutello would help reduce administrative work massively, allowing them to dedicate more time to in-person study sessions, supporting students, or carrying out their own research. They can also see the student interactions with Tutello and learn where best to focus support through the analytics area.

Overall, working at my first start-up has been fascinating. I have enjoyed the different tasks I have had responsibility for, from market research to competitor evaluations. I even had the opportunity to carry out interviews with students about their experiences and attitudes towards AI, which I loved due to the feeling of developing different skills that will be useful in the future, either during my degree or in the workplace. I want to say thank you to all the team at Tutello for making my two weeks a pleasure!
